I know people prefer it when dogs can be put neatly in little boxes. This one is cuddly. That one is wild. This one is a couch potato. That one is shy. This one is gentle. That one is aggressive. Period. When you get down to it, no dog fits perfectly into those boxes. We're living animals with our own complete personalities. Especially me. My name is Sadie and I defy classification. At the root of it, I guess it's actually pretty simple. I'm scared. I lost my family and came to a shelter full of strange people and dogs. I know
Stegosaurus is on a quest for answers. While pondering questions like why humans have hair on their heads and cats have fur all over, she also wonders if a turtle with wings could fly or how high a cat could jump on the moon. Her most burning question is about "adoption." Stegosaurus knows it means finding a loving human family and she's excited about the concept. She already has a large cat family and adores humans. She's outgoing, friendly and enjoys playtime without getting too wild. Stegosaurus loves attention, meeting new people and following them around. She's convinced she's the
We are excited to announce that preparations are in full swing for this year's annual Ornament Drive! So, how does this heartwarming initiative work? We supply the ornaments and you generously offer the venue. Each cardboard ornament showcases an adorable, adoptable animal on the front, along with a concise wish list on the back. These ornaments can be proudly displayed at your business, school, church or any other location, inviting kind-hearted individuals to select ornaments and help fulfill the wishes. We have a beautiful shelter. A dedicated, loving staff. We do the absolute best we can. But nothing can change the fact that a shelter is not a home. It can be stressful for a cat to live around so many strangers, noises, smells, and other cats. Even if they don't mind other cats, living with dozens of them all the time is a lot! For some cats, the best thing for them is to be in the shelter where they can meet the public and find a home! But cats who find the shelter extremely stressful often don't behave in ways
They call me Li'l Luna and I've got enthusiasm COMING OUT MY EARS! Which, given the size and volume of these ears, is really saying something. I love the sky. I love the leaves falling all around me. I LOVE other dogs and I LOOOOVEEEEE people. At seven months old, I'm still just a kid. I haven't reached the "play it cool" stage of my life yet, you know? If I like something, I'm gonna let you know. And I like everything. The cracks in the sidewalk are amazing. Is that a worm? Incredible. I would love to have a family-
My name is Delilah and I'm like a geode. Right away, I might seem kind of stony. A bit of a tough exterior. But it's what's inside that really sparkles! It's not til you chip away at the outside a bit that you get to see how special I am. I'm loving and wonderful and polite. Once I get to know you a little, I'll flop over for belly scratches and wrap my paws around your arm to hang on. I'm seven years old, so I know how to behave! I can be trusted to be left home alone, I know the
500 Days in the Shelter- Our Cat Room's Longest Resident Needs a Savior! When gorgeous, outgoing Starlet arrived at the shelter sixteen months ago, none of us could ever have guessed that she'd be the one nobody wanted. She's amazing. She jumps right up to greet people, loves to play, and is interested in checking everything out. She's quiet and undemanding. She's a wonderful, wonderful cat. But Starlet is extremely unhappy in a shelter environment. She is not a fan of other cats. Dogs are fine- she doesn't react to them at all, really. But other cats... nope. Starlet spends
Have you ever had a buddy who is super awkward around people they don't know, but is a total hambone once they get to know you? Or maybe you ARE that friend. My name is Elias and I am totally that friend. I'm that guy who, when someone says to my pals "he's a little shy, isn't he?" they laugh out loud and say "if you only knew!" I'm the kind of dude who will have you going into work every day with stories and photos- "look at the cute thing Elias did today!" Are you a fan of cuddle
I may not look like royalty at first glance. When you see me in my kennel- just one black dog among many- you probably won't even notice me. But make no mistake. I AM a queen. Empress Sapphire of the Seven Seas, if you please. What exactly I'm doing here in Jefferson County is a mystery to me. It's obvious once you get to know me. You'll wonder why you didn't see it before. My excellent manners, my regal demeanor, my proclivity for shaking hands, my benevolence toward children... it's all there. If you've ever read a fairy tale, you know that good
