WE WANT YOU to participate in the St. Louis area wide Slumber PAWty!!!
The St. Louis Area Shelter Slumber PAWty for shelter pets will be held on
Saturday, August 10th
at 15 local animal shelters throughout the metro area including Open Door Animal Sanctuary!
Each participating shelter is choosing a select group of supporters to be their slumber “PAWtiers” who will pair up with a shelter pet (either a cat or dog of your choice) with who they will spend the night at the shelter – and Open Door is hoping you will be at our PAWty!
The goal of the event is to help raise critical funding for your favorite shelter and for shelter pets across St. Louis! Each PAWtier will set a fundraising goal ($1,000 or more) to be raised via their participation in the PAWty. The fundraising component is similar to “kidnap/bail and jail” and “A-Thon” type fundraisers where the participants ask their friends, family, or colleagues to make a donation to support their PAWty time/stay at the shelter. Donations will be solicited by the PAWtier and made by their supporters online. Each pair of sleepers will have a live feed during a portion their stay (including some in the wee hours of the evening) to chronicle their fun and ask for support from their group and the general public. The funds you raise from your contacts will go directly to the shelter where you are staying and any from the general public will be pooled for all the shelters to share equally. The event will be a great way to raise awareness about all the wonderful shelters in the area and the dogs and cats who need adoption. We are expecting a lot of media buzz from the event because of its large scale and local celebrity participation!
As we anticipate many people being interested in this opportunity to support homeless animals, we are asking interested participants to complete a brief interest survey and our PAWtiers will be chosen based on their responses. The event will be 24 hours in nature (sleepers will arrive around noon on the day of the PAWty and will leave before noon the next morning). So, plan to get some actual sleep that Sunday as well if you are chosen! We can promise you a fun, exciting, and rewarding experience and Open Door staff will support your efforts and promotion in any way you dream up (see what we did there?). Paws to Party is Open Door’s largest annual fundraiser and consists of an elegant plated dinner, an expansive silent auction, exciting live auction items, and an inspiring presentation highlighting the work of Open Door.
Tickets are $125 which includes appetizers, dinner, a full service bar, all event activities, and a go home bag.

If you have a business or work for a charitable company that would like to reach thousands of animal lovers in the greater St. Louis area, consider sponsoring our event starting at $500! By partnering with Open Door as a corporate sponsor, your company’s support will be evident to our tens of thousands of supporters in the greater St. Louis area through being featured on our website, on our Facebook page, in our mailed and emailed newsletters, on the event’s printed and emailed invitations and at the event within the program and on signage. Your company’s sponsorship investment in homeless animals will be returned with key marketing exposure to our donors, adopters, volunteers and event participants. And, it includes two tickets (or more with higher sponsorship levels) to the awesome event! (a $200 value).
We are also asking local businesses and individuals to help by donating an item(s) to our event’s silent or live auction. Items can be goods or services your business provides (or gift certificates for the same), promotional items, gift-type items, a basket of related items, or a basket of food/beverage items. In exchange for your donation, you will receive a receipt suitable for tax purposes for the actual value of your item and your name/company name and logo (if applicable) will be featured in the event program book which will be seen by 250 patrons at the event.
