My name is Chomper and I’m not the kind of dog whose world is just black and white. Where some dogs are brown-eyed or blue-eyed, I’m both. Where some dogs’ coat colors are easy to describe, mine is… Blue? Tan? White? Merle? A little of each? It’s not just that, though. For some dogs, life is good. People are great. That’s all they’ve ever known and all they ever will know. And for some, people are scary and life is tough. For me… it’s a little of both. I love people. I’m cuddly and affectionate and I really WANT to be everyone’s friend. But I’ve learned from experience that dogs have to be careful. Not all people are safe. Sometimes, when they move too fast, I get scared and flinch and back away. I do know that there are a lot of good people in the world. People who won’t hurt me, ever, no matter what. And I’m looking for one of those. Someone with a gentle soul. You probably want to know if I get along well with other animals and, like everything else… it’s not a simple “yes” or “no.” In the home I came from, I lived with another dog, cats, and pre-teen kids. But since coming to the shelter, I haven’t wanted to be friends with any of the animals I’ve met. See what I mean about things not being black and white? What I do know for sure is that I’m a good boy. I’m going to be someone’s “heart dog” for sure- the one they’ll never forget. Are you the kind of person who can help a dog like me heal?
