Here’s the process for meeting me (JoAnn): First, maybe you peek into my condo from the hallway and think, “Aww! Look at that one with the squishy little face!” Or maybe I’m hanging out somewhere tucked away and you don’t even see me. Probably, you think, “She looks kind of scared. She might not want to be friends.”
But… try anyway. I promise, it’s worth it.
You come in and reach for me and the first thing I’ll do is back up away from you. I came here to the shelter after my person moved and left me behind. It’s an overwhelming environment, you know? And I don’t know you. I want to take a moment to check you out before I decide if I can trust you to be kind and gentle with me.
Next? Well… then, you get to see the surprise I have up my proverbial sleeve! Because I warm up pretty quickly and, within a couple minutes, I’ll be giving you nudges and cheek rubs, and then… my butt pops up and you get to see my little tail! I have a short, curly tail like a little piglet. It’s super cute and kind of unusual. Apart from my big green eyes and my Batman ears and my squishy face and my personality, it’s my best feature.
When I warm up, it’s kind of all at once- I go from unsure to all in. I’ll roll over and give you the upside-down pose, I love having my bootie scratched, and I’m super affectionate. Turns out, I actually really love attention and I love people. I’m still not entirely comfortable with all the chaos of the shelter and you won’t see me fully relaxed until I settle into a home, but you can definitely get a taste of my sweet nature even in these less-than-ideal circumstances.
If I see other cats while you’re with me, I’ll probably hiss at them. I don’t seem to be particularly comfortable around other cats here in the shelter. Whether that translates to not liking other cats at all or whether it’s a shelter thing, I really can’t say, but I think a solo cat home would probably be easiest. It would be unfair to put me into a situation where I had to get along with another cat in order to keep my home and family. I haven’t met dogs, so I’m not sure what I would think of them.
Okay, so once all that is done… once you’ve met me, seen how cute I am, and fallen head-over-heels for me, it’s time to take me home and make me yours!
