Shanghai – Ready for Adoption!
Where’d I get these extra toes? Well, I was walking along one day, counting on my toes the number of reasons you should adopt me, when I ran out of toes before I ran out of reasons. Suddenly, I came upon a mysterious lamp half-buried in the dirt. I pulled it out and began to wipe it off, and whaddaya know- a genie appeared! He was like “Hey Shanghai, I’m a real busy genie, so you only get one wish today and you have five seconds to decide!”
Should I have wished for a family right there and then? Maybe, but I think that might fall under the “you can’t force someone to fall in love with you” genie rule. So I wished for extra toes so that I could count a little higher! I mean, number one: I love to be held. That could almost take up a whole paw right there, right? Who doesn’t love a cuddly cat? Number two: I have the best purr. As soon as I see you, you’ll hear it- the sweetest motor ever. Number three: I’m a lot of fun and I love to play! At five years old, you might assume I’ve left some of my whimsy in my youth, but you would be wrong. I absolutely light up when I see a toy. Number four: I’m super outgoing. I don’t care if this is my first time meeting you or my 921st. I’ll be right there waiting to greet you.
I mean, I could go on and on. I’m a treasure and that’s all there is to it. I spent most of my life as an only cat. It was just my person and me. A few weeks ago, he passed away, so my whole life changed really fast. I lost a lot, gained a lot, and have had to do a lot of adapting. In the shelter, I’ve been out running around with the other cats and have been getting along well with them, so I don’t think I would mind living with another cat. I have no idea what I would think of a dog, but I hear most cats can get used to dogs with a slow introduction and a little time. So if you want a total sweetheart with a practically infinite number of excellent qualities, come and pick me! My name is Shanghai, I’m five years old, and I’m spayed, up to date on shots, and fully vetted.
