Hi, I’m Ducky, and they say there’s no one quite like me. But honestly, I think I’m just a regular dog who loves to play fetch, hang out with friends and snuggle up in your lap when I’m tired. Being super-loving, eager-to-please and ridiculously adorable, aren’t these just typical dog traits?
So, why do people say I’m different? Well, I have a neurological issue that affects my balance and coordination, causing me to wobble around. But don’t worry, I get by just fine! I can walk, play, eat, drink and take care of my business; I just need some accommodations to stay safe.
I’m a petite 28 lbs, and it would be great if my future home had minimal stairs and a level fenced yard where I can run and play. Tug-of-war and fetch are my favorite games and I’m a pro at bringing the toy back. Yes, I do fall over sometimes, especially when I’m tired, scared or excited, but I bounce right back up with a smile on my face. Nothing can dampen my spirits!
I’m gentle and friendly with everyone I meetโhumans, cats and dogs. Though some dogs may not get me because I move differently, it doesn’t bother me one bit. I might not be the perfect dog sibling for every pup, though.
The vets aren’t entirely sure why I’m different, but I’m a healthy, happy dog. I don’t have seizures, I’m not in pain, I don’t need medication and my coordination has improved with time and practice. I’m just a bit wobbly and that’s part of what makes me unique.
So, maybe I am unusual, but I’m also just a regular dogโfull of kisses, cuddles and joy! I can’t wait to be someone’s cherished companion.
