Puddle & Legs – Ready for Adoption
“Small dogs go fast!” “Everyone wants a small dog!” It’s true! … Well, most of the time. Puddle and Legs have been waiting over a year for their home and have had no prospects. One the one hand, there are reasons for that: Puddle and Legs are both 11 years old (so, yes- they’re eligible for the Seniors-4-Seniors program!). They’re bonded and must stay together. They’re not shih tzus or poodles or corgis or dachshunds. They’re purebred Little Tan Dogs. And, the biggest thing: they’re shy. Like, if you came today and wanted to meet them, they probably wouldn’t let you pet them. For the first few days you have them, they might not let you touch them. If you ignore their signals, force the issue, and corner them, they do what anyone in their right mind would do if they’re cornered and grabbed by a stranger: they nip. So, that’s the worst of it. And it seems like a lot! But, in practice, it’s not. It means they need someone with a big heart, willing to give a chance to a pair of dogs in need. It means they’ll need plenty of patience and someone willing to do what it takes to earn their love and trust. Once they get to know you, both Puddle and Legs are affectionate little guys who will follow you around everywhere you go. Puddle loves to be held, while Legs isn’t quite there yet. They play together, but are mostly pretty low-key. They get along with other chill dogs and, as long as they have a soft bed where they can cuddle up together, they’re happy! Puddles and Legs are available for adoption together only. Since they’re both 11 years old, if an adopter over the age of 65 takes them, their adoption fee would be $1 each and routine vet care, including daily meds, would be provided by the shelter at no cost. Both boys are neutered, up to date on shots, and fully vetted.
