If being slightly obsessed with Edgar is wrong, I don’t wanna be right. Edgar is sweet. He’s inquisitive. He’s a little ridiculous. He’s only a year old. And he’s absolutely stupid levels of cute. Honestly? I’m almost disappointed that Edgar has made so much progress in the shelter because I kind of wanted to take him home to foster and he doesn’t actually need that now. When he came to the shelter a few weeks ago, he was a shy guy who didn’t want anyone to touch him. Well, I mean- shy, but also brave. Even though he didn’t want to be touched, he’s loved to explore since the beginning. He loves to play and wanted to be out in the middle of everything. Even when something scares him, he’s curious about it and wants to find out more, so he slowly started letting people touch him. At first, it was just people he knows and people who gave him treats. Now, it’s pretty much anyone, as long as you’re slow and gentle with him at first. To be honest, he is still sort of hoping you have treats for him when he approaches, but he’s happy to get the attention with or without them.

He’s still learning, though. He hasn’t fully mastered all the rules and customs of polite human/cat interaction and his love bites can be… a little much. He definitely means them to be affectionate and not aggressive, although he sometimes gets too into it and the line between “happy” and “overstimulated” can be a bit blurred. He’s probably not perfect for young kids or anyone with thin skin. I think it’s a behavior that’s very likely to get better with time, space to decompress, and a little guidance, but unfortunately, my crystal ball is in the shop, so I can’t say that for sure.

Edgar is great with other cats and is curious about dogs. Just like people, he doesn’t seem 100% sure what to make of them, but he comes close and seems willing to make friends. He likes having his butt scratched and his ears petted. He’s not ready to enjoy being picked up yet, which may change once he’s spent some time knowing he’s safe and loved, but again- no crystal ball. Either way, he shows he loves you pretty clearly!
