Misselthwaite – Ready for Adoption!

In reality, I live in an overwhelmingly purple room in good ol’ Jefferson County, Missourah. But in my soul, I’m quite sure I’d be better suited to the romantic desolation of the English Moors.  My name is Misselthwaite. It’s the house from The Secret Garden. And, like so many Frances Hodgson Burnett characters, I’m also a bit of a tragic orphan with a heart of gold.  I’m the last of my litter to be adopted. At five months old, I’m still just a kid, but I’m not itty-bitty anymore. I’m blind in one eye and I have a permanent head tilt. All of those things are just cosmetic, really. I can still see well enough to get around, I can run and jump, and I don’t need any special care. And I’m sure there’s someone who will see my galaxy eye and think it’s beautiful.
I’m a little bit shy when you first meet me, but I love attention and am very affectionate. I will sometimes flinch or pull away when you first touch me, but will immediately come right back with headbutts and purrs as soon as I figure out that it’s time for love and you’re not a threat. Right now, in the shelter, I’m pretty definite about not wanting to be picked up. That may change after some time in a home, or it may just be my preference forever. Either way, I can show you just how much a cat can love you without needing to be carried around.  I get along well with other cats and haven’t met dogs, but I think I would do fine with them after a proper introduction Mostly, I just need someone who sees how beautiful and sweet I really am and will help me find joy and peace and secret gardens.
