Donovan – Ready for Adoption!

Well hi there, youngster! The name’s Donovan and I’m looking for a place to hang up my hat (or Batman mask) and retire.  At 15 years young, I’ve done a lot of livin’, but I’m not ready to give up yet! I got adopted from this shelter when I was knee-high to a grasshopper and lived almost my whole life in one home. But life can be funny sometimes and you never know what tomorrow’s gonna bring. When my person had to move and couldn’t take me with them, I needed a place to go. And once you’re an Open Door cat, you always have a place at the shelter, so I ended up back here! I haven’t seen these walls since I was just a tadpole!  It’s not so bad, all in all. The Cat Canasta club meets on Wednesdays and I get all my meals prepared for me. My personal preference is a steady diet of pudding. Life’s too short- eat what you want, I say! My caretakers are marvelous. I love having a whole community of people to keep company. There’s little I enjoy more than being held and cuddled. If the human isn’t paying attention to me, I’ll politely reach out with my paw and touch them to remind them that I’m there.  I may be an old fart, but I’m not curmudgeon. I’m more “wholesome twinkly-eyed grandpa who knits sweaters for goats” than “old grouch who shakes his fist at windmills.” I’m a terribly affable fellow who gets along well with dogs, other cats, and children.
I would be suitable for almost any home, but because of my age, I’m eligible for the Seniors-4-Seniors program. That means if someone over 65 adopts me, the adoption fee is just $1 and routine vet care for the rest of my life will be covered.  So come and visit me sometime, why don’t ya? Take me home because I’m handsome and charming. Take me home because I melt your heart. Take me home because you don’t want to see me spend whatever time I have left in a shelter. Whatever the reason, I want to be yours!
