Yankee – Ready for Adoption!

Hey! I’m Yankee! Hi!!! Yankee here!! Hel-LOOOO!!! It’s ME! YANKEE! What does a little guy have to do to get some attention around here?!
I don’t even care what kind of attention it is. Play with me! Pet me! Call me a tiger-striped nincompoop if that’s what floats your boat. Just… stop and see me.  I’m the sweetest, friendliest little boy. Totally head-over-heels for any sort of toy. I’ll follow you around wherever you go just because I love you (even if I don’t even know you yet) and want to see what you’re up to. If you need help with any of your chores (or a reminder that they can be fun with the right kind of company), I’m happy to be of service! My current favorite is washing the dishes (by which I mean, playing in the water).
I’m about to turn six months old, which is a super-fun age! I’m learning who I am and what’s good about the world. I’m pretty bold and fearless, good with other cats, and not afraid of strangers.  Somehow, though, I still get overlooked. I know I’m not the itty-bittiest baby anymore and I’m not the flashiest color. And I’m FIV+, which means… really not much. It’s nowhere near as big a deal as you might think! I can live just fine with other cats, I’m not sick, I don’t need extra care or medication, and I’m as likely as any other cat to live a long, healthy life. I can only transmit it to other cats through deep bite wounds (like, the kind that would require a trip to the vet, not wrestling/playing). I should be kept indoors (but so should every cat adopted from the shelter) and am at a somewhat higher risk than FIV- cats of developing dental problems when I’m older, but that’s about it! So don’t let it scare you. It doesn’t scare me.  I’ll be your shadow, your playmate, your best pal, your assistant, and your sweet little boy. Just give me a chance!
My name is Yankee, I’m five months old, and I’m neutered, up to date on shots, and fully vetted.
