Chop Suey – Ready for Adoption!

My name is Chop Suey and I’ve heard a rumor that some cats around here have been getting their miracles lately. Could it be time for mine?
I know it’s a lot to ask. I’ve been here three years now (since I was just two months old) and have seen lots and lots of cats come and go. Faces light up when their day comes. Lives change in an instant. And I’ve wondered if it will ever happen for me.
I’m kind of a shy guy, but not the kind you can’t ever touch. Once I get to know you and grow to trust you, I’m pretty affectionate. I will sit on my favorite volunteer’s lap when she comes in and I love having my ears scratched. I’m a big fan of toys and and there’s no quicker way to get my attention than to offer me a treat. So that’s probably one reason I haven’t gotten chosen yet, but I know the deal: most of it is because I look like kind of a hot mess. I’ve got a chronic condition that makes my eyes runny. Almost all cats carry it and most get, like, an eye booger here and there. I don’t need any daily medication (although there are supplements that can help), I see just fine, and it doesn’t really bother me in general. Mostly, it just makes me unique!
I’m great with other cats. I’m a peaceful, sweet, chill little guy. I’m going to take some time to adjust to a new home and family, but they tell me it’s a lot easier to feel safe in a home than it is in the shelter and lots of shy cats become really cuddly with some patience.
I’ve been working really hard lately. I’ve come a long way. And I think it’s time. I think I’m ready.
