Beaux – Ready for Adoption!
My name is Beaux and here’s my philosophy: Aging is inevitable. I know that. As it says in the ancient texts, “The years start coming and they don’t stop coming.” And, at 8 years old, I am technically a senior dog. But just because I’ve hit that magic number doesn’t mean I have to go full geezer. I’m happy to take the discounts (Seniors 4 Seniors program? Heck yeah!), but- look at me. Do I LOOK like I’m ready to trade my hiking boots for fuzzy slippers? Not yet, bucko. Don’t get me wrong. I love a good nap. I’m not gonna turn down the opportunity to snore in my chair five minutes into a Law & Order marathon. And I have been around long enough to have developed some manners and maturity: I was housebroken in my previous home and could be trusted to be left alone without throwing any wild parties. I’m still plenty young at heart. You won’t hear me kvetching about modern music or telling kids to get off my lawn. I’m a happy-go-lucky sort who keeps my mind open to new experiences and friends. I’ve lived with (and gotten along well with) other dogs and I love every human I meet. I’m good on leash, but I’m 83 lb, so I will need a human who is okay with people yelling, “You need a saddle for that thing!” at them when they’re out in public. So if you qualify for AARP and colonoscopies, but you still haven’t ruled out the idea of one day running a half-marathon, I might be the perfect middle-aged puppy for you. Oh, and about that Seniors-4-Seniors program? Because I’m eight years old, anybody over 65 years of age can adopt me for just $1 and routine vet care for the rest of my life will be covered at the shelter at no cost to the adopter. If you’re under 65, it’s the regular adoption deal: 150 buckaroonies for a fully vetted, neutered, up-to-date-on-everything best buddy for life.
