I’ve given it a lot of thought, and I think it’s finally time for me to adopt a human of my own. “But, Cheeks,” you might say, “that’s an awful lot of responsibility for a dog!”
Oh, I know. I get it. But I think I can handle it! See, I’m gentle, mellow, and friendly with strangers. And, even though humans always seem to be preoccupied with my breed (yes, I’m a bull terrier. Is that supposed to mean something?), I don’t let it go to my head. I’m down-to-earth and just a regular guy. I’m four years old, so I’m a mature adult, but still young enough to take my humans for walks, play with them, and provide them the enrichment they need.
Why do I want a human? Because I love them! And because, to be honest, I’m a bit of a sensitive guy and being in the shelter is stressful. I need a steady, loving human to come home to. I need someone to cuddle. Also, have you seen how cute humans are in little raincoats when you take them outside? I mean, come on.
I know lots of humans come as bonded groups and that’s fine with me! I could have a whole family of humans… or even non-humans! I haven’t met other dogs or cats since coming to the shelter, but I’m open to trying. If I find a human who has already been adopted by a dog, I’d be happy to have any canine co-adopters come to the shelter to screen me and make sure we get along and that I can provide the kind of love and care for their people that they deserve. After all, adoption is a big deal and it would only make sense for both adopters and adoptees to be choosy!
So, if you know of any humans in need of a dog, please send them my way! I’m ready to open my heart to a new family.
My name is Cheeks, I’m four years old, and I’m neutered, up to date on shots, and fully vetted.
