Surviving Pet Care Program

Surviving Pet Care Program

Have you worried about who will take care of your pets after you are gone? If you enroll them in Open Door Animal Sanctuary’s Surviving Pet Care program, you will have peace of mind knowing that if something happens to you, we will take in your pets, care for them, provide any medical care needed, work to find them new loving forever homes, and give them 100 kisses a day.

ODAS does not require an annual contribution for the Surviving Pet Care program but a commitment to the pet and his/her needs is dependent as designation ODAS as a beneficiary of one of the following planned giving ways:

  • Gifts through your Will or Living Trust.
  • Naming Open Door Animal Sanctuary as the beneficiary of all or a portion of your life insurance policy, annuity, retirement plan or IRA.
  • Lifetime arrangements such as Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Remainder Trusts, Remainder Interest in Residence or Second Home, and Transfer on Death Accounts.

The recommended minimum gift is $10 per day per pet for the remaining life expectancy of the pet(s). For example, you have one 10 year old cat and one seven (7) year old dog you would like to enroll in the Surviving Pet Care program. You expect the cat to live to be 20 years old or more and the dog to live to be 15 years old.

$10 x 365 days = $3,650 per year x 10 years = $36,500 for the cat

$10 x 365 days = $3,650 per year x 8 years = $29,200 for the dog

The total recommended minimum planned gift to enroll the dog and cat in the Surviving Pet Care program would be $65,700.
